The Bass player, composer and arranger Santiago Acevedo Casas, takes his musicians on an authentic collaborative musical experience. In his new CD “La Travesía”, Jazz, Afro-Cuban music, Colombian folklore, and the lyrics dialogue in a wonderful harmony enriched by their individual virtuosity. Backed by musicians of the highest caliber: Gabriel Amargant (Saxophone and Clarinet), Joan Monné (Piano), Vicenç Solsona (Guitar), Ramon Angel (Drums), and Luis Alfonso Guerra (Congas); Santiago puts forward a proposal that has caught by surprise the world of professional musicians as well as his passionate audience.

The Santiago Acevedo Ensemble brings us a CD with the taste of South America and the smell of Barcelona. A cosmopolitan experience that fits the Catalan Capital, with customs and sounds that melt in each song, a true reflection of the Avant-garde design present in each one of Santiago’s works.

In “La Travesía“ the essence of the music is orchestrated beautifully by the bass which boosts and frames each one of the group’s instruments.

The wide-range of musical styles that Santiago Acevedo Casas incorporates has brought him to work with a diversity of artists and musical genres including Latin Jazz, Swing, Salsa and Folklore with musicians like Perico Sambeat, Jose Alberto “El Canario”, Eddie Palmieri, Original Jazz Orchestra and many more.

“La Travesía” is a personal production, brave, sincere, and most of all reflective of The Santiago Acevedo Ensemble’s project. It teaches us that the sense of belonging is not always synonymous of withering roots but has the extraordinary capacity to mix past and present head on to cultivate a promising future.
